Lois Mauldin Hancock, 91, passed away in Waxahachie, Texas on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Lois Mauldin Hancock daughter of Mr. John Austin Mauldin and Mrs. Pearl Mauldin Rogers, both deceased, of Lenox, Georgia. Her brother, Nelson Mauldin and wife, Ruth, both deceased, of Lenox, Georgia. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Simmie G. Hancock of Waxahachie, Texas as well as one daughter, Linda Allen of Detroit, MI.

She is survived by two sons: John Hancock and Amy of Palmer, Texas and Jeff Hancock and Shannon of Waxahachie, Texas. One brother, Tom Rodgers and Sandra of Valdosta, Georgia. Also, two sisters-in-law: Carrie Lou Godwin Hancock of Greenville, South Carolina and Beadie Hancock of Lenox, Georgia; twenty grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Lois was born in Savannah, Georgia on October 6, 1932. Her family moved to Lenox, Georgia when she was in the third grade. Simmie transferred to the same school in Junior High and soon became known as sweethearts. This went on through High School. Simmie joined the Air Force and then came back to her after is first tour was over.

They were married June 2, 1948, and Simmie decided to reenlist. Twenty-two years later he retired from the Air Force and was called into the work of the ministry. He enrolled in Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Missouri. Lois worked in the Administration Office to help him through college. After graduation in 1971, he pastored four churches, with Fundamental Baptist Church in Palmer, Texas being the longest. He pastored there for thirty years, with Lois always at his side. He retired March 20, 2006, due to his health. They were married for sixty-eight years when he went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2017, at the age of 87.

Lois was a faithful servant of her Lord and a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel in Palmer.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 10 a.m. in the Crossroads Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Tournage, Rev. Tom Rogers and Rev. Gary Miller officiating under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Interment will follow in DFW National Cemetery at a later date.
