Lois Jean Smith, 77, passed away in Ferris, Texas on Saturday, May 29, 2021.

Lois was born in Dallas, Texas on April 4, 1944 to Henry G. and Lois (Helms) Meade.  Lois grew up in Dallas and graduated from the Dallas ISD.  On January 16, 1958 she married Wilbert L. Smith and they made their home in Dallas before moving to Ferris in 1984.

Lois worked for Sears in the office, for Smith Trucking and Livestock Supply for ten years as a sales clerk.  She was a member of the Ellis County Riding Club.

Lois is survived by her loving husband of over sixty-three years, Wilbert L. Smith; daughters: Tammy Sawyer and husband, Perry, Lisa Bahm, Cheryl Rexroad and Marcia Tanner; fourteen grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Glenda West, brother, Henry Meade, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. T.D. Skinner officiating.  Interment will be held in the Rose Lawn Cemetery of Seagoville at a later time under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
