Louie Nolan McElhaney, 87, passed away in Ferris, Texas on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

Louie Nolan McElhaney was born in Moody, Texas on September 6, 1933 to Robert N. and Mattie S. (Permenter) McElhaney.  He grew up in Moody, Palmer and Ferris, Texas and attended school in Palmer.  On June 23, 1951 he married Joyce L. Robinson and they originally made their home in Palmer.  After many years of being a pastor they settled in Ferris, Texas in 1986.  He worked and retired from Ellis County Precinct #1 for 14 years.  He was a member of the Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by daughter, Patricia Lynn Fleming; son, Kenneth Nolan McElhaney; six grandchildren: Jamey Steele, Koda McElhaney and wife, Cassie, Kyle McElhaney and wife, Brittney, Kalyn McElhaney and wife, Satara, Kele McElhaney and wife, Caty and Kacy McElhaney; five great-grandchildren: Kalyana McElhaney, Kaydan McElhaney, Ryan McElhaney, Collin McElhaney and Addie Pascoe; two brothers: Albert McElhaney and wife, Virgie, and Bobby McElhaney and wife, Vera; sister: Eutiva Stevens; sister-in-law, Patsy McElhaney as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce McElhaney, his parents; one grandson, Casey Steele; one half-sister, Inez Hargrove; four half brothers: Vernon, Harry and Houston McElhaney and Ray Murray; three brothers: L.D. McElhaney, Leland McElhaney and Jimmy McElhaney and sisters: Peggy Grooms and Mary McElhaney.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 2 p.m. in Palmer Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either New Century Hospice or Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer.
