Lucy Jean McMurry Bus, 71, passed away March 16, 2025.

She was born May 6, 1953 to parents A.E. and Paula McMurry in Lubbock, Texas. Lucy grew up in Lubbock and was active in school activities and church activities at Southcrest Baptist Church.

She graduated from Monterey High School in 1971. Lucy was so very smart. We always called her the genius of the family. She was the person we went to when we needed the answer to any question. She loved learning and was a voracious reader. Lucy was very creative. She could sew, knit, crochet, and quilt. She was an accomplished piano player.

Lucy accepted Christ as her Saviour at the age of 10 . She had a very strong relationship with Jesus . This deep faith guided her all her life and she was the true example of being the hands and feet of Christ. She had a desire as a young girl to be a missionary. She did not travel the world as a missionary, but accomplished this desire everyday with her prayers, actions, and love toward everyone.

After graduation, she moved to Dallas to start new adventures in her life. She worked in the accounting departments of many different types of businesses. When she was working at Steakley Chevrolet in Dallas, she met Pat Bus in the fall of 1974. They began dating in the summer of 1985. Pat and Lucy were married July 8, 1989.

They moved to Garland to make their home. They welcomed their son, Russell Bus on November 11,1993. Russell became involved in Boy Scouts. Lucy and Pat embraced Russell's interest and as a family they had many years of being in the Boy Scout community. Russell reached the highest rank of Eagle Scout.

Lucy loved being a wife and mother. She made a loving home for her family.

Lucy is preceded in death by her parents , A.E. and Paula McMurry.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Charles Patrick Bus. Her son Patrick Russell Bus, her siblings Daniel Everett McMurry, sister Dixie McMurry Holloman and her husband John Emory Holloman and their children John Everett and Andy Holloman and their grandson Jaxson Holloman.

Visitatio n will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10 a.m. with a Celebration of Lucy's life following at 11 a.m. at J. E. Keever Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Dan McMurry, Danny Dvorak, Johnny Hollman John Everett Hollman, Riley Byrne, Casey Byrne, Shelby Jackson and Bret Shropshire.
