Lydia Sue Greenwood Harper, 91, was called home on Saturday, May 21, 2022.

Lydia was born at home in Frisco, Texas, on February 2, 1931, to John and Mossie Lou (Slocum) Greenwood. In 1948, Lydia graduated as valedictorian of her class from Frisco High School. She then attended college at Texas State College for Women (now Texas Women's University) where she completed a bachelor's degree in education. After college, she went to work as Ellis County Assistant Home Demonstration Agent and later taught homemaking in Maypearl and Palmer.

She met Roger Allen Harper at a church event. They married on July 25, 1953, and made their home in Palmer, Texas. Lydia supported the family businesses, D&H Grain, Harper Ag Service, and Harper Farming and Cattle, where she worked as the secretary, bookkeeper, and kept everyone fed. Since the passing of her husband, 30 years ago, Lydia has owned and operated Harper Mini Storages. She also became a licensed real estate agent at the age of 60. Lydia was a member of First Baptist Church-Palmer, where she loved serving the Lord in many roles. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, and shopping. But above all she loved taking care of and spending time with her family.

Lydia will be greatly missed by her family; children: Kirby and Nora Harper, Vivian Harper; five grandchildren: Joni Harper, Jami and Steven Navarro, Tami Tucker, Kody and Mandi Harper; ten great-grandchildren: Frankie Sica; Gracie Dunsmore; Parker, Tucker, and Cooper Navarro; and Chance, Brooks, Macon, Lohgan, and Kade Harper; sister-in-law: Mary Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Lydia joins her husband, parents, and siblings, as well as her infant son, Harley Joe, and granddaughter, Alyssa Douglas in heaven.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the chapel at the J. E. Keever Mortuary, Palmer Chapel.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Palmer with Rev. Paul Gauntt and Rev. Gary Southard officiating. Interment will follow in Palmer Cemetery under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
