Our beloved Mack Arthur Cable (Daddy, Papa, Papa Great) was born on September 9, 1942, in Maryville, Tennessee. Papa was one of 11 siblings; and is survived by 5; Brenda, Pam, Tam, Donna, and Doug. In 1958, papa moved to Ennis, Texas, where God would forever change his life. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Robbie Lee Roberson Cable on December 22, 1961. Together, Papa and our cherished Granny shared a beautiful storybook marriage of 64 years—one rooted in love, faith, devotion, and unwavering commitment to one another and to the Lord.

Mack was the Assistant Vice-President of Austin Bridge/Rhino Industries for over 27 years. In his retirement he did home construction and woodworking along with furniture especially toy chest for all the great-grandchildren.

Papa was a man of deep and abiding faith. He believed wholeheartedly in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and lived every day in service to Him. He was a devoted member of Anthony Drive Baptist Church in Ennis, Texas. Papa served faithfully as a deacon and helped establish several Baptist missions throughout his lifetime. His life was a living testimony of Christ's love. Through his words, actions, and gentle spirit, he led many souls to the feet of Jesus. Mack worked alongside Bro. L. E. A strong, godly man, Papa always put his faith and family first. He lived with a pure heart—gentle, humble, forgiving, and kind—reflecting the light of Christ in every aspect of his life. He adored his wife and loved his family fiercely, finding his greatest earthly joy in those God entrusted to him. And there were many.

Papa was a proud and loving father to his three daughters: Scarlet Tiner, Karen Hicks and her adored husband Rodney Hicks, and his precious Misty Elaine Cable, whom he held close in spirit after her passing at the tender age of 19. In the abundance of his love, Papa also adopted in spirit his niece, Mindy Wagner, whom he cherished like a daughter and loved wholeheartedly.

He treasured his grandchildren—Erika Dawn and spouse Sam, Larry Deanand wife Kacie, Steffany Danielle and husband Jeff, Stephen Shane and wife Julie, and Scott Russell and spouse Sissy—and took great pride in each of them.

Papa's greatest achievement and deepest joy were held in his heart through his great-grandchildren: Hayleigh Jade, Hayden James, Zoey Ann, Jaxon Shane, Huck David, Azilynn Rain, Charlie Elaine, Cobee Glynn, and Camden Douglas. Each generation was a living blessing and a reflection of the love he poured so freely into his family. They kept him young with endless playtime and fishing adventures, and they inspired his creativity through his love of carpentry. With his own hands, Papa lovingly crafted each great-grandchild a special toy box—unique treasures made for their own treasured memories. He also leaves behind silings Brenda Wagner, Pam Brown, Tamberlyn Shaw, Donna Nichols and Douglas Cable along with a cousin, Thurma Faye Michaels.

Papa loved the mountains of Tennessee, where his humble beginnings in the hills helped shape him into the man he became. He carried that quiet strength, humility, and appreciation for God's creation throughout his life. He also had a deep and lifelong passion for fishing, often taking children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and anyone who wished to join him. It was a joy he shared freely and continued to enjoy until his final days.

Papa fought until the very end and took his last breath on January 2, 2026 before walking into the Lords glory. Papa's life was one to be admired and duplicated—a life of service, sacrifice, and steadfast faith. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to echo through generations: a legacy of love, devotion, humility, and a life fully surrendered to God. Though our hearts grieve his passing, we rejoice in knowing that he has heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant," and now rests in the presence of his Savior.

Mack is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: T. H. Thorton, Robert Raper, Ray Jackson Cable, Jr., Kathleen Shipp and Glenda Combs.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and eternally remembered.
