Manuel (Meme) Castillo Jr., 84, passed away in Midlothian, Texas on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.

Manuel was born in Ennis, Texas on December 11, 1936, to Manuel and Catarina (Lopez) Castillo. Manuel grew up in Ennis and attended school there. On September 23, 1961 he married Clara Castellanos and they made their home in Ennis. Manuel worked for LTV for thirty-three years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He enjoyed cooking, grilling, gardening, watching the rangers, driving through the countryside, and going to the Casino. Family was the most important thing to him, and he enjoyed talking to everyone.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Clara Castillo; sons: Vincent Castillo and Arthur Castillo; daughters: Leticia Hernandez, Melinda Castillo Benavides and husband Michael, Melissa Castillo Rodriguez and husband Gonzalo, and Jennifer Castillo; grandsons: Steven (Ryan) Moreno and wife Celeste, and Justin Benavides; granddaughters: Kristian Avila and husband Jose, Carissa Lozano and husband Danny, Staci Griffin and husband Kordel, and Mia Benavides; ten great-grandchildren: Cara and Sophie Lozano, Kaden, Kai, and Kannon Griffin, Ethan and Eian Benavides, Emma and Noah Avila, and Dallas Moreno; brothers: Ernesto Castillo and Raymond Castillo; sisters; Carmen Trevino, Susan Trevino and Emilia Vasquez along with a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Catarina (Lopez) Castillo, his brothers Ray and Desi (Lelo) Castillo, sister Eva Munoz and Maria Delores Castillo, son-in-law Victor Hernandez, and granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Hernandez.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mass of the Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery of Ennis under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

Serving as pallbearers are Ernest Castillo Jr., Steven (Ryan) Moreno, Justin Benavides, Jose Avila, Danny Lozano, Kordel Griffin, Ernest (Buddy) Castillo III, and Miguel Espino.
