Melba Ophelia French, 93, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in Ennis, Texas.

Melba was born January 10, 1932, in Ennis, Texas to John and Iody (Sims) Hurley. Melba grew up in Ennis, Texas and graduated from Ennis High School in 1949. On August 21, 1950, Melba married her best friend and love of her life Norvin French, and they made their home in Ennis, Texas.

Melba worked for over thirty years as a bookkeeper at Ennis State Bank where she was always ready to lend a hand or have a nice chat with those she worked with and the customers she served.

Melba is survived by her son: Greg French and his wife, Annette; grandchildren: Jason French, Jeremy French and Rachel Griggs; great grandchildren: Peyton, Luke, Cooper, Rylee and Ryder and a host of extended family and friends.

Melba is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norvin French and nine siblings.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
