Melvin Lee Baker, 93, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, in Waxahachie, Texas.

Melvin was born in Ennis, Texas, on August 29, 1931, to Luther and Verna Mae (Forson) Baker. He grew up in Ennis and attended Ennis High School. Melvin married Rose Pekar and they made their home in Ennis. Melvin joined the United States Air Force where he served as an Air Transport Supervisor.

Melvin served on the Ennis Police Force as an officer for over nineteen years, he also served as a deputy for the Sheriff's office in Waxahachie prior to working as an officer he worked for Ford Motor Tractor Company. Melvin served as President of the Local Auto Worker's Union.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Rose Baker; sons: Melvin Baker, Jr., Chris Baker and Robert Baker; daughter, Carol Baker; numerous grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Deavers and a host of extended family and friends.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Melody Baker.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10 a.m. at J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis.
