Ola Merle Bowman Spence, 78, passed away on June 29, 2021. Merle was born December 3, 1942 to Robert Lee and Ola Esther Wharton Bowman, in Dallas, Texas. She attended W. H. Adamson High School in Dallas and graduated in 1961. After High School she went to Nursing School at Methodist Hospital in Dallas and graduated with her degree in Nursing in 1964.

She married the love of her life, Delma Ray Spence, March 4, 1981 and they made their home in Ennis, Texas. Ray was the most special person in the world to her and they were a match made in Heaven. Merle spent the next 40 years doting on Ray and loving him to her fullest capacity.

Merle was a member of Bardwell Methodist Church in Bardwell, Texas and Trinity Methodist Church in Ennis, Texas. She also was a member of the Red Hats of Ennis, and enjoyed getting together with them and going on outings.

Merle loved all animals, big and small, and enjoyed a daily drive with Ray through the Ranches to see their Deer, Elk and Bison.

Merle is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Thomas Lee Bowman. She is survived by her Loving Husband Ray; her nieces and nephews from her brother, Suzanne Bowman Carl, Hilary Bowman Rhoades, Brooks Hunt Bowman and Ryon Corbin Bowman. She once told her brother, she was glad he raised them so she could now have them. She is also survived by her nephews from her husband's family, Kiley Brad Spence, Carl David Nelson (Rusty) and Clinton Doyle Nelson (Killer) and many other nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, July 2, 2021, 6:00-8:00PM, at J.E. Keever Mortuary, Ennis, Texas. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment will follow in Rice Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Dr. Larry Jinks will officiate. Pallbearers will be Brooks Bowman, Ryon Bowman, Brad Spence, Jeff Spence, Rusty Nelson, Killer Nelson, Cody Fisher and Bobby Carl.
