Michael Ray Moreno, 49, went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 9, 2021 in Ennis, Texas.

He was born on October 7, 1971 in Ennis, Texas to Joe and Minnie Moreno.

He was a 1990 graduate of Ennis High School and received his Associates Degree from DeVry Institute of Technology in 1993. For the past twenty-eight years, he was employed by AT&T.  Michael married his high school sweetheart, Julie, on May 20, 1995, and along with two beautiful children, they created a story book life together.

Michael leaves behind his loving family, including his wife of twenty-six years, Julie (Mounts); daughter, Mikaela and fiancé Devin Smith; son, Evan and significant other Celeste Pedraza; parents, Joe and Minnie Moreno; mother-in-law, JoAnn Mounts; brothers, Joe Moreno Jr. and wife Jill, Steven Moreno and wife Linda, Lance Moreno and significant other Karen Zambrano; brother-in-law, Shawn Mounts; nephews, Steven (Ryan) Moreno and wife Celeste, and Aric Mounts; nieces, Staci Griffin and husband Kordel, Casey Moreno, Haley Hicks and husband Briley, Bailey Moreno, and Madison Mounts. He also leaves behind several great nephews, great nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends that he truly treasured.

Michael leaves behind a legacy. Throughout all of his illnesses, he would say that he felt he was going through all of his own trials in order to lead someone closer to God. He left an impact on everyone he met. He served as a father figure to many and had a sense of humor like no other. The memories of his infectious laughter and jokes would light up the room, and will forever live in the hearts of his loved ones. He was an avid football fan, with his favorite teams being the Ennis Lions and the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders.

He is preceded in death by grandparents Arturo and Mariana Casanova, Benigno G. and Jacoba M. Moreno, and Herman and Margaret Mounts.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, 10 am, at The Avenue Church in Ennis, Texas. Graveside service will immediately follow at Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

Serving as pallbearers are Art Casanova, Roland Alvarez, Daniel Montelongo, Dusty Montelongo, Derek Montelongo, and Zack Rodriguez.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to Julie Moreno, with account being held at Ennis State Bank for a future Ennis football scholarship, dedicated in his honor.
