Myrna Elizabeth Kurtz Hunter was born August 20, 1942 in Bessemer, Alabama to Helen and John Kurtz. She passed away on Saturday October 8, 2022. She spent most of her early life in Alabama but the last 50 plus of her life in Ennis, Texas after marrying James "Jim" Hunter. They had a lengthy 2 month courtship before marrying October 15, 1970.

Myrna was a true Southern gal and loved everything about the South. She loved to travel, read books, sew, and she was an excellent cook, but her greatest love was for her family. She and Jim shared 5 children: Peggy Douglas (Alan) of Fort Worth, Texas, Gary Amison (Tonya) of Ennis, Texas, Charlotte Jones (Greg) of Minden, Louisiana, Shawn Amison (Chell) of Telico, Texas, and Ricky Amison (Fathia) of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. They also have 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren plus a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

Myrna was an active member of Ambassador Baptist Church (which she named), and a 20 plus year member of The Eastern Star. She served as Worthy Matron numerous times and was honored to be a member and serve The Eastern Star.

She is preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Jessica Rae Amison.

She is survived by her children, husband Jim, and brother Billy McElroy of Birmingham, Alabama. Myrna was blessed to be at home until her passing, surrounded by those she loved.

The family would like to thank Bristol Hospice for the care they provided. A special thank you to Chell and Shawn Amison, Gary and Tonya Amison and Josh and Brooke for the constant care and love given to Myrna and Jim during her lengthy illness.

Myrna's children would like to thank Jim for loving and caring so much for their mother over the last 52 years. We love you dearly and will always be here for you.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery of Scurry, Texas under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
