Newell M. Ballard, Jr., 80, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

Newell was born on September 1, 1944, in Seagoville, Texas, to Newell M. Sr, and Frances (Walton) Ballard Newell grew up in Seagoville, Texas, and graduated from Seagoville High School. He went on to East Texas State University (Texas A&M) with a degree in Agriculture.

On October 26, 1962, he married the love of his life Charlene Floyd in Rockwall, Texas. They made their homes in Longview, Sherman, Lancaster and Alma, Texas.

Newell worked for Locmere Angus Farms, The Texas Department of Agriculture, TriCon and retired from Dart Containers. Newell was a member of the Church of Christ on Country Club Road. Some of Newell's hobbies included Rodeo, hunting, fishing, water skiing, antiquing, camping and traveling on cruises.

Newell is survived by his loving wife of over sixty-two years, son, Paul Bruce Ballard; grandchildren: Bradley, Ashley, Meagan and Hayley; eight great-grandchildren: and a host of extended family and friends.

Newell is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Thomas Ballard.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of Newell's life will be held on Wednesday, March 26. 2025, at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Matthew Newman officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Kleberg Cemetery of Kleberg, Texas under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
