Nicholas Paul Reyes, better know as "Tank", passed from this life to his permanent place in heaven on Friday, July 16, 2021.  His birthday was August 12, 1973.  He was a life-long Ennis resident who went to Ennis schools and loved his Ennis Lions football teams.

Tank grew up in the Fairview area with his late father and mother who were Bonifacio Reyes and Rosa Zapata.  He has two brothers:  Alex DeLuna and Danny DeLuna of Ennis, and a sister Martina Alfaro of Ennis.

In 1997, Tank met and married on Valentine's Day of 1998, the love of his life, Buffy (Hullett) Reyes.  They shared a loving marriage for over 23 years.  And his pride and joy of his life was his family.  He loved his four daughters with all of his heart and was so proud of them and all of their accomplishments in their young lives.

Kaylee Hullett is his step-daughter and she is 27 years old.  His first-born is Bethany Reyes and she is about to turn 23, his second – Larissa Reyes is 22, and the youngest is Makenzie Reyes – age 20.  He was so happy that his 3 youngest girls became a part of the Ennis Lionettes drill team program.  He thoroughly enjoyed watching them perform in parades, or at the halftimes at the high school football games, or cheering them on at their annual spring shows.

Tank and his wife Buffy were always together and they just fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.  They loved food and they enjoyed eating out, they loved their cruises, they loved their football – especially the Ennis Lions and the Dallas Cowboys – but Tank truly loved to dance.  There was nothing better to him than being invited to a local dance on a Saturday night, where he and Buffy would dance the night away.  He was a constant cut-up, loved to kid and joke around, and all-and-all a fun-loving kind of guy.  He knew almost everyone in town, and everyone either knew him or was kin to him in some kind of way.

Tank and Buffy changed the direction of their lives a few years ago when they joined and became a vital part of the Foundation of Life Church in Ennis.  Tank was a professed Catholic, but gave his life over to Jesus, was saved, and baptized on December 4, 2017, and thereafter, was a changed man.  The entire family followed suit, and it's a tremendous comfort today that the family knows where Tank Reyes is now, after taking his life breath at the Ennis dialysis center on Friday afternoon, July 16 ^th .

Tank had bravely battled diabetes disease and the lasting effects that over time left him in need of a kidney and heart transplant.  Try as she might, wife Buffy spent most of her days taking him to various doctor appointments, transporting him to dialysis treatments every other day, catching-up and learning all about his different types of health issues and ways that she could best help take care of him.  The daughters also had a profound impact on helping to care for their father as well.

Tank was a nice guy that loved his family and had a host of friends that he enjoyed being around.  He will be greatly missed, but those that truly knew him well, realized that he had fought a very hard and long battle in the last couple of years.  But all is well now, because he is with Jesus in heaven – no more doctor appointments, no more dialysis treatments, and finally – no more pain.

Tank leaves behind his wife Buffy, his one step-daughter Kaylee Hullett, and his 3 daughters – Bethany, Larissa, and Makenzie Reyes.  He was proud to call Trey Jackson his godson, and he has 2 grandsons – Blayze Manis and Brewer Manis.  He also has a great number of nieces, nephews and cousins that he will miss.

Tank was preceded in death by his parents – Bonifacio Reyes and Rosa Zapata, his younger brother Felipe Reyes, and a host of uncles, aunts and other cousins too numerous to name.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Foundation of Life Church of Ennis.  Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
