Ola Bess Johnson, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 9, 2026, from Ennis, Texas.

Bess was born in Richardson, Texas, on August 4, 1933, to Vilas Lee "VL" and Leona (Johnson) Anthony. Bess grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1950. Bess married Clarence W. Johnson, and they made their home in Ennis.

Bess worked for First Republic Bank for over nineteen years as a bookkeeper. Bess was a Charter member of the Anthony Drive Baptist Church.

Bess is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Bess is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence W. Johnson, her son, Charles Wayne Johnson; brothers: Oran Anthony, Everett Anthony, Rupert Anthony, Edwin Dan Anthony and Irvan L. Anthony.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rev. Paul Gauntt and Rev. Matt Walker officiating. Pallbearers will be Ray Hamm, Les Gerron, Larry Nizio, Colton Flynt, Chris Wilson and Eddie Green along with Honorary pallbearer, Dalton Nizio. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Alinea Hospice and to the staff of Ennis Care Center for the love and attention given to Bess while in their care.
