Born on Friday the 13th day of October, 1939 to Roy Chandler and Lillian McCaig Chandler, Peggy was the tomboy of the family growing up in the Oak Grove Community. She followed her daddy everywhere and learned his ways of making anything work with perseverance and determination. That method served her well throughout her lifetime and she passed it along to her subsequent generations. She gained her heavenly wings on the evening of June 17, 2024 after a nine-year battle with Parkinson's disease. As she always sang in the most angelic voice, there is no doubt she is a member of the Heavenly Choir.

In 1953 during a seventh grade science class, a handsome young classmate stood before her and announced, "I'm going to marry you someday, Peggy Chandler." She blushed brightly and chided him for teasing her. There was no doubt he saw in her what would content his heart, and seven years later, proposed to her. On the 26th day of August, 1960, she became the happiest ever bride to Robert E (Bob) Erisman, Jr. They were a true 'meant for each other' couple for the duration of their lives.

While Bob attended classes at Texas A&M University, Peggy worked as a beautician in College Station before the birth of their first child, Robert III. After graduation, Bob took a job as a field underwriter with Texas Farm Bureau Insurance and the young family moved to Tulia, TX and welcomed the arrival of their daughter, Jamie. Over the years, the family moved from Tulia to Amarillo, then to Waco before settling back in their home town of Ennis in 1971 where Peggy went to work for Murphy's Beauty Shop. In 1972, they welcomed their third child John and the family was complete. Regardless of where they lived, Peggy would work tirelessly on every home they had: painting inside and out, wallpapering, decorating and sewing curtains so that every house became a home. While she was proud of her accomplishments, she was neither boastful nor arrogant in any way. She took her greatest pride in her faith, her loving husband, and the McCaig, Chandler, and Erisman families she cherished and adored.

There was always more than enough love in her heart to share and she often cared for children in the home from the early 70s until 1996. In 1979, Peggy joined the teaching staff of Tabernacle Baptist Church as a preschool teacher where she easily won the hearts of every student she taught. There are an innumerable number of children, friends of her own children and of her grandchildren to whom she was lovingly known as Mama E, Miss Peggy, and Grandmama Peg.

Peggy was a true believer in Christ and, alongside Bob, instilled her firm faith in her children as they raised them as members of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served as both a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was also well-known, in both Church circles and the Ennis A&M Booster Club, for her ever-present and always perfect chocolate sheet cake. Peggy was a member of the EHS Class of 1958, a member of the Class of '58 Lunch Ladies group and a beloved member of the 'magnificent Seven'. She had a devoted plethora of friends for whom she cared and treasured deeply.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, Bob, in May of 2022. She is survived by her beloved sister Jane Chandler Green and brother-in-law, Ed Green, Sr and her 'honorary brother' Larry McCaig and wife Margie. Left to cherish her every memory are three children: Robert E Erisman, III, Jamie Erisman Smith and devoted son-in-law Paul, John C Erisman Sr along with treasured daughter-in-law Michelle; her doting pride and joy grandsons, Robert E Erisman, IV and precious wife, Rebecca, Jay Chandler Hashop, Joel Ross Hashop, John 'Chandler' Erisman, Jr, and Kyle Thomas Erisman, along with five amazing great-grandchildren: Lillian Grace Newport, Ava Lynn Erisman, Robert E Erisman V, Aubrey Nicole Erisman, and Madison Rae Erisman.

The family offers their most heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Traditions Hospice Care, especially the loving care offered by Leslie Bobalik Rene, as well as the kindness and care of the staff at Legend Oaks Nursing Facility in Ennis.

Family visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at J E Keever Chapel; a joyous Celebration of Life honoring this incredibly outstanding mother will be held Wednesday, June 26 at 10:00 AM, also at Keever's with interment following at Myrtle Cemetery, under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Officiating the service will be Peggy's dear nephew, Ed Green, Jr. Pallbearers will be Robert E Erisman, III, Robert E Erisman, IV, Jay Hashop, Joel Hashop, Chandler Erisman, Kyle Erisman, and Bob Henderson.
