Peggy Ann (Dlabaj) Spurgeon was born in Ennis, Texas on November 5, 1955. She attended St. John Catholic School for her primary and secondary education and was a proud Crusader graduate in 1974.  Peggy met the love of her life, Larry Spurgeon, in 1978 and they were married on September 21, 1979.  Peggy welcomed her first son Nick in December of 1981 and her younger son Tyler arrived in April of 1985.  Peggy and Larry raised their boys in Ennis and built their life together there.  Peggy worked in pension and new business for Southwestern Life Insurance Company, in the ribbon department of Ennis Business Forms, as a clerk at both Ennis Office Supply and Main Street Hardware, and at times as a stay at home mom. Her greatest passions were raising her boys, taking care of all her family, and having good times with friends while enjoying a pivo or two.
Peggy passed away at home on Monday May 18, 2026.  She is preceded in death by her husband Larry, her parents Mildred and Albin Dlabaj, her brother Mike Dlabaj, her mother and father in law Kitty Ruth and Rex Spurgeon, and brother in law Rex Jr. Spurgeon.  Peggy is survived by son Tyler, son Nick and grandson Corbett, sister Susan Wunderlich, brothers Timmy and Steve Dlabaj, sisters in law Toni Butler and Donna Spurgeon, brother in law Steve Spurgeon, and their families.
Pallbearers will be Peggy's nephews: Michael Wunderlich, Todd Butler, Jeremy Butler, Nathan Dlabaj, Parker Dlabaj, and Braden Dlabaj.
A visitation will be held at J.E. Keever Mortuary on Tuesday May 26, 2026 from 6-8pm with a rosary at 7pm.
Funeral mass will be held at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church on Wednesday May 27, 2026 at 10am. Interment to follow at Rice Cemetery.
