Ralph Patrick McDermott, affectionately known as Pat, 74, passed away in Ennis, Texas, on April 3, 2025, after a courageous struggle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

Pat graduated from Bishop Dunne HS in Dallas, and attended Texas A&M, where he was a 3-year letterman as the kicker for the football team. He worked in the steel industry for 35 years and eventually settled in Ennis, TX. He spent most of his free time at his children's sporting events, kicking soccer balls around, or throwing batting practice. Pat was an avid collector of rusty and semi-useful items and could normally be found wandering around outside tinkering with numerous projects.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Mary Geb McDermott; his brother Francis Joseph "Joe" McDermott; and his sisters Mary Bridget "Bee" Durbin, and Mary Alice "Alicey" McCaskill. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Joyce, of Ennis, TX; his son, Shane, of Orofino, ID; his daughter, Rachel, of Waxahachie, TX; his sister, Teresa Marie Taylor, of Glen Rose, TX; his sister, Janie McDermott, of Marshall, TX; and 3 grandchildren: Rachel Jeske of Waxahachie,TX, Marlena Jeske of Las Cruces, NM, and Guy McDermott of Canyon, TX.

In lieu of flowers , the family would appreciate donations to CurePSP.org in honor of Pat's fight.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rosary recited at 4 p.m.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 10 a.m. in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father John Dick as celebrant under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Clyde's Bar in Ennis, TX
