Raymond Fira of Ennis, Texas passed away peacefully on May 9th, 2025 at his home with his family by his side.

Raymond was born in Sinton, Texas on July 14th, 1942 and he grew up there.

In 1960, he met the love of his life Ermeline Garcia and they married in 1961 in Sinton, Texas. In 1963, they moved to Ennis to make it their home, and raise their family. They remained married for 63 years until his passing.

After moving to Ennis Raymond played saxophone in a Tejano band named The Sun-Lites along side his brother Rick, Uncle Benito Fira, Uncle Anselmo Gonzales, and Cousin Tony Álvarez.

Raymond worked in the women's apparel business for Sunny Isle as a warehouse manager, then as a road salesman covering Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana territories.

After leaving the sales industry, Raymond and his two brothers became entrepreneurs, where they opened a meat market, grocery, and Mexican deli style business. Along with the market, he and his brothers had Ricardo's Mexican Restaurant in downtown Ennis.

His final business was a breakfast and lunch restaurant named Fira's which he ran for 10 years. He retired in 2007.

When not working Raymond enjoyed working in his yard, burning CDs to add to his large music collection, being with family & friends, listening to tejano music while grilling.  He also enjoyed playing golf with his brothers and country club crew.

Most importantly, he had a great love for his family. He treasured his time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Raymond is preceded in death by his father Rosendo Fira, his mother Didia Fira, his brothers Roy  Fira, Rick Fira and a niece Brandy Fira. He leaves behind his wife Erma Fira, a son David Fira and his wife Tina, a daughter Patty Fira. Granddaughter, Riley Fira and her finance Gavin Smith, Granddaughter Sydney Fira and finance Chris Branham.  Great-granddaughters Blaire Fira, Paxton Smith and great-grandson Grayson Branham.

Visitation will be Monday, May 12, 2025 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the J. E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Ennis.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
