It is with deep sadness that the Herrera family announces that Ricardo Herrera passed away on February 10, 2021 at the age of 59.  He was born January 7, 1962 in Robstown, Texas.

Ricardo was a long time resident of Ennis, Texas along with his wife and soul mate of 26 years, Kelli Herrera.

Ricardo had the biggest heart and loved very deeply.  His home was open to all who needed it; he never turned anyone away!  Family meant everything to him; he had such a funny sense of humor he would give all his family their own special nick names.  To all that knew him also saw a huge love of sports.  He followed many sports but his deepest love was of course football.  Besides being a faithful Ennis Lion, who never missed a game when his sons and nephews played for or his daughters danced for the Mighty Lions, you could never d eny his all time favorite NFL team the 49ers in which he named one of his children Montana.

Ricardo is survived by his wife, Kelli Herrera; four sons: Chris Raley, David Herrera, Brandon Herrera and Damien Huyck; daughters: Angela Shaw, Yolanda Herrera, Selena Herrera, Kayla Goforth, Jennifer Goforth and Gabby Herrera; eleven grandchildren: Alex, Ricky, Zeus, Lexi, Emma, Lincolin, Ayden, Elijah, Adylin, Jaxon and Vivianne; brother, Delfina Herrera and sisters: Bea McCoy, Josephine Byrd, Oralia Herrera and Virginia Goforth.

Ricardo is preceded in death by his parents, Gabino and Agustina Herrera, his brothers; Gabino Herrera, Jr., David Herrera and sisters: Faustina Hernandez and Juanita Herrera.

There will be a viewing and Rosary held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

Funeral services will be held at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church on February 25, 2021 at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
