Robert Joseph Valek, 77, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, after a brief illness.

Robert was born in Ennis, Texas to Frank A. and Lillian (Parma) Valek. He grew up in Ennis and graduated from St. John High School in 1963. Robert attended St. Edwards's in Austin after High School. Robert served his country proudly in the United States Navy serving out of Charleston, S. Carolina, with duty in Guam on the USS Hunley a submarine tender as an electronic technician during the Vietnam era. Robert went on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. On December 26, 1966, Robert married his best friend and love, Nancy Svehlak in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church.

Robert worked in Dallas for two years for the United States Postal Service and then came to Ennis to work an additional twenty-five years with the Ennis Post Office, before retiring. Robert was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus where he was a Grand Knight 4 ^th degree and KJT. Robert enjoyed playing golf especially with his favorite partner Nancy, volunteering, and loved cars new or old, it didn't matter.

Robert is survived by his wife of over fifty-six years, Nancy Valek; brother, Michael Valek and wife, Betty; sisters: Marilyn Corbin and husband, Terry and Cindy Magnani; numerous nieces and nephews; three god children and a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father James Yamauchi as celebrant under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
