Ron Pollan, 58, passed away December 11th in San Antonio after a severe respiratory issue that led to cardiac arrest. Following a family graveside service, Ron will be buried in Rice Cemetery beside his mother and grandparents.

Ron was born on March 9, 1964 in Killeen, Texas to Ronnie and Faycile Morris Pollan. In 1965, the family moved to Ennis where Ron grew up and attended Ennis schools. He participated in several sports while growing up including baseball, football and golf. Ron excelled in golf and pursued it for a few years beyond high school. He attended Baylor University before returning to Ennis to join the family business begun by his grandfather, WJ Pollan. Ron and Jackie Perdue married in 1987 and were later blessed with their children, Will and Ann. For the last 9 years Ron lived in San Antonio where he successfully achieved life beyond addiction. That success began a calling and career in helping people in detox and mental health crises. In his most recent years Ron excelled in that role as a mental health tech at University Hospital San Antonio, where he humbly and compassionately walked beside patients in severe mental health crisis. His colleagues at University share numerous inspiring stories of the countless ways Ron unselfishly served patients and staff. A lead social work professional emotionally recalls that, "Ron taught us how to compassionately care for patients in crisis by his humble example." Ron is described as being the hands of Jesus and a calming servant beside patients, as well as a wonderful friend to his precious work family and his recovery community. The family has been overwhelmed to learn of the countless lives he has impacted, served and even saved as he used his own story to make a difference.

Ron is survived by his son, Will Pollan and fiancée Caroline Cochran, daughter Ann Pollan and their mother Jackie Pollan, his father Ronnie Pollan, sister Melodie Robison and her husband Randy and their children and grandchildren. Ron loved those great-nieces and nephews. Also left to grieve his loss are several cousins and aunts, dear friends Chris, James & Patrice and countless others in the Monte Vista Group recovery community and co-worker family at University Hospital San Antonio. We grieve, but we grieve with great hope because of the assurance of heaven for those who have believed in Jesus and our confidence in Ron's salvation.
