Ronald "Ron" Garvin Slone passed away on June 25, 2026.

Ron was born on December 20, 1942 in Corsicana, Texas to Garvin Floyd Slone and Alice Gelene Gaddy. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1961. He attended Navarro Junior College and later graduated from East Texas State University where he was president of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

Ron followed in his father's footsteps by working for R.C. Bottling Co. for many years. Ron also served in the United States Navy as a combat photographer from 1966 to 1971 and received a National Defense Service Medal. He went on to run a flower shop, Bloomers for You Florist, with his wife, Jane Slone, in Las Colinas, Texas. He then built a career as a college professor, teaching business courses, at Cedar Valley College within the Dallas Community College District from which he later retired.

Ron touched many lives in his 83 years on this earth through his wisdom, kind heartedness, and optimism. He had a way of making friends wherever he went. He was a voice of reason and a strong pillar of the Slone family. Ron was the family's communication director - he always made sure to check in on everyone and keep everyone in the loop. He really kept the family close together.

Ron loved working on classic cars and attending local car shows. He was a tennis enthusiast and was involved with the Lion Tennis Center in Ennis, Texas for many years. You could also find Ron riding his scooter around Northridge Estates and catching up with all the neighbors. He enjoyed "working out" at the gym and talking with all of his buddies there.

Ron will be greatly missed by his wife of 46 years, Jane Slone; son, Scott Slone; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Bob Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Bethany Slone and Omar Baker; and his five grandchildren - Trinity Slone, Zaiden Slone, Reagan Jones, Natalie Jones, and Atticus Baker.

A Celebration of Life will be held at J Bar C Cowboy Church of Palmer, Texas on July 11, 2026 at 11:00 am.
