Dr. Ronald Treman Oglesby, 79, passed away in Ennis, Texas, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. He was born September 5, 1946, in Tyler, TX, and was raised in Mineola, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Treman Roger Oglesby and Bertha Faye Radney.

Ron grew up an only child in a loving and supportive home. He excelled in all sports, from football to pole vaulting and his most beloved, baseball. Academically, he was top of his class and was a true leader. He was President of his class and later his fraternity at Baylor University.

Ron knew from a young age that he wanted to go into medicine and never wavered from his goals that would achieve his dream of becoming a dentist even though he was offered several opportunities to play baseball in college. Ron enrolled at Baylor University and in 1964 and graduated in under 4 years. He was accepted to the Baylor School of Dentistry in Dallas. Upon completion, he enlisted in the US Army, where he was a Captain and served as a dentist at Ft. Meade in Laurel, Maryland. After 2 years, he made Ennis home for his new family and private practice.

Ennis brought many new opportunities to serve his community as President of Rotary where he received their highest honor, the Paul Harris Fellow medal as well as a church home at First Presbyterian of Ennis where he was active as a Sunday School Teacher, led Bible Studies and served as an Elder and on the Session for over 50 years. He was a man of faith and his relationship with the Lord has brought comfort to his family during this time.

Ron started his family when his daughter, Sharon Elizabeth was born in 1970, and 3 years later, his son, Stephen Wofford, was the perfect addition to his family. He loved his children with all that he had and was a very loving and present father, always going to God for advice sought by his children into adulthood. He considered them his most regarded achievement. He was immensely proud of their accomplishments and their love for the Lord. His grandchildren and great grandson have become his greatest legacy.

He met the love of his life in 1979 on a blind date. Deborah Oglesby. They wed in 1981 and she became the best friend, companion and mother he could have ever dreamed of for the next 44 years. She was by his side through the best and the worst, as the Lord commanded. These last were a challenge with his health but she never left his side. Her love and devotion to him would inspire us all.

Ron is survived by his daughter, Sharon and husband Kyle Lott from Saginaw, TX; son, Stephen and wife Gigi from New Braunfels, TX; grandchildren: Nicholas Hughes of Kyle, TX, Madeline Shaw of Hutto, TX, Alex, Henry and Charlie Oglesby of New Braunfels, TX, and great grandson, Jaden McGuire of Hutto, TX.

Funeral services will be at JE Keever Mortuary on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 10 a.m.

Interment will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 9 a.m. in DFW National Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to First Presbyterian Church for a stained glass window in remembrance of the life of service Ron led for 79 years.
