Ronald "Ronnie" Wayne Roberts, age 60, passed away Tuesday morning, June 23, 2009, at the VA Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Ronnie was born September 29, 1948 to Everett T. and Allene Carroll Roberts, Sr. in Ennis, Texas. He attended school in Ennis and graduated from Farrington High School in Hawaii in 1967. On May 31, 1969 he married the love of his life, Rebecca Estes, and they made their home in Ennis. Ronnie served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1965-1968 and during that time he served in Viet Nam.

Ronnie worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for more than eighteen years as a Brakeman and Conductor. He then worked for the City of Ennis for over fifteen years. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 361, VFW of Waxahachie and a member of Crosspoint Baptist Church, Ennis.

Ronnie is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca "Becky" (Estes) Roberts; four brothers: Everett T. Roberts, Jr., of Ennis, Mac Roberts and wife Lurlene, of Dallas, Wallace Roberts and wife Joy , of Ennis and Don Roberts and wife Glenda, of Dallas; one sister, Geneva Stone and husband Marvin, of Streetman. Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, Everett T. Roberts, Sr. and Allene Carroll Roberts.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2009 in the J.E. Keever Chapel. Services will be held Friday, June 26, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Chapel with Rev. Eddie Ricks officiating. Interment will be in the Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
