Ronnie King Pollan joined Jesus in Heaven on March 21, 2023. We know this because of his profession of faith in Christ as a child at Tabernacle Baptist Church, followed by his baptism there at the old downtown location in Ennis. Born in Corsicana on October 11, 1937, and raised in Rice then Ennis by WJ and Willie Pollan. Ronnie attended Ennis schools, participating in many academic, social, music and sports activities and was president of his class. His Ennis High track mile relay team won state and propelled him to Baylor University where he ran track, as well. Following his freshman year of Baylor, Ronnie began the summer of 1957 working in Glorieta, New Mexico at the Baptist Conference Center where he met a 17 year old Alabama beauty who was working at Glorieta, also. Coincidentally, Faycile Morris was headed to Baylor in the coming fall and their courtship at BU led to their August 1958 wedding in Dothan, Alabama. Earlier that summer Ronnie travelled with college revival teams all over Texas leading the music for those revivals.

In November of 1959, while still doing college, Ronnie and Faycile welcomed daughter, Melodie. They managed to continue classes, trading a baby in between and Ronnie graduated from Baylor in 1960 with a degree in Religious Education and a minor in music. Soon the family of three moved to Ft Worth where Ronnie began his Masters degree in music at Southwestern Seminary. While in Ft Worth, Faycile finished her teaching degree at TCU and began her career there. Ronnie served at Richland Hills Baptist Church during those years of seminary. Upon seminary graduation Ronnie was called to serve as minister of music at FBC Killeen. While in Killeen, the family became four with the birth of Ron in March of 1964. Later in 1964 Ronnie returned to Ft Worth to serve at Rosen Heights BC before ultimately moving back to Ennis. In Ennis, Ronnie served in music ministry bi-vocationally at Tabernacle Baptist Church while beginning a long career with WJ and Willie at Pollan Furniture. Those years prepared him to take over the family business upon WJ's death in a tragic plane crash in 1974. During all of his young adult years Ronnie honed a golf game that became the starting point for years of stellar golf, friendships and travel experiences. All too soon, Faycile died of cancer in 1993. After 35 years of marriage Ronnie knew he was not a solitary man, and in June of 1994 he married Mary Silberstein. Ronnie and Mary were together for 22 years with the last few years of her life spent at Brookdale Sr Living in Ennis. While at Brookdale, Ronnie and Mary navigated life with kind assistance from their dear staff. Mary passed away the last day of April 2017, and Ronnie remained at Brookdale until the last week of February this year. He leaves behind longtime friends among the residents and staff there.

We are deeply thankful that for several years Ronnie got to enjoy time with Ron, grandchildren and great grandchildren, some time in Waco for holidays and other occasions and, of course, some Baylor sports events.

Ronnie was proceeded in death by WJ Pollan, Willie Pollan, Faycile Pollan, Mary Pollan and just recently by Ron Pollan.

Left to truly cherish memories are daughter, Melodie Robison and husband Randy, grandchildren Amanda Robison Ramirez and husband Henry, Scott Robison and wife Jennifer, Will Pollan and bride-to-be (next week!) Caroline Cochran, Ann Pollan and their dear mother, Jackie Pollan, great grandchildren Grace, John Conrad, Sadie and James Eddie Robison and Olivia Faycile Ramirez.

The family would like to acknowledge Bluebonnet Hospice and Wesley Woods Waco for their gentle care for our loved one during his final days in Waco. You were a blessing to us.

Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at 3pm Sunday March 26th at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ennis.
