Ruth Anthony, 95, went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 9, 2023, in Ennis, Texas.

Ruth was born in Rosser, Texas, on November 26, 1927, to Russell and Thelma (Howard) Hornbuckle. Ruth grew up in Rosser and graduated from Ennis High School in 1946. On June 13, 1948, she married the love of her life Irvan L. Anthony and served faithfully by his side as he pastored in multiple churches.

Ruth worked for several years for Banner Insurance Company as a secretary. The job she was most proud of was being a wife, mother, and Nana for her family. Ruth was a charter member of Anthony Drive Baptist Church. Ruth loved puzzles, sewing and spending time with her Lord as she read her Bible.

Ruth is survived by daughters: Vicky Gerron and husband, Les, Suzanne Hamm and husband, Ray; grandchildren: Jason Chapman and wife, Sharon, Shannon Nizio and husband, Larry, Jarod Hamm and wife, Susan and Kyle Gerron and wife, Mary; great-grandchildren: Colton Flynt, Carly Flynt, Maddie Hamm, Dalton Nizio, Miranda Hamm, Haley Hornick, Shelby Copeland, Preston Chapman and Maliya Chapman, baby Gerron due in March; brother, Alton Bateman; sister, Yvonne Younger; sisters-in-law: Bess Johnson and Margaret Anthony along with a host of extended family and friends.

Ruth goes home to meet her parents, her beloved husband of over sixty-nine years, Irvan Anthony and brother, Ray Palmer.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary with Rev. Jerry Fulton and Tony Sinclair. Pallbearers will be Jarod Hamm, Larry Nizio, Colton Flynt, Dalton Nizio, Jason Chapman and Kyle Gerron.  Interment will follow in Elm Branch Cemetery in Bardwell under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
