Santos Pablo Gomez,82, passed away February 14, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 21, 1942 in George West, Texas to parents Ruperto Gomez and Felicita Morin. He married Rosita Munoz and they had 63 wonderful years together. He is survived by his wife Rosita and by his family Esmeralda and Billy Dlabaj, Freddie and Gracie Gomez, Lisa Ramirez and Juan Gutierrez, Debbie and Patrick MacAllister and Andy Gomez and godson Ronny Munguia. He has 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers Roberto, Frank, Florencio, and Rolando and four sisters Geneva, Olga, Juanita, and Maria. He is preceded by his parents Ruperto and Felicita and his brother Jose (Chuy) and sisters Rosa, San Juanita, Catalina and his sons Rogelio and Junior.

Santos and Rosita moved from George West to Ellis County in the 1960's. Santos and his wife Rosita created a life in Ellis County. A hardworking man, he worked at the Avalon Cotton Gin for over a decade. He went onto working in the farming community with Mr. Berry of Avalon and other farmers. He loved working on the land and being outdoors. And lastly, he worked at Ennis Automotive for 10 years.

Santos was not only a hardworking man but he was so full of life. He always said don't be afraid of life because life is meant to be lived. That was his attitude for life. He never sat still for long. He loved fishing and hunting and loved tinkering with cars and fixing anything. He loved visiting his brothers and sisters when he could. He loved gardening and grew many different vegetables. He would love to grill meat and corn in the summer. And most of all, whether cooking arroz con pollo, pozole, and caldo, he was always cooking for his family. He loved teaching different skills to his grandkids.

So, although we have to say goodbye, he created so many memories with his loved ones while he lived. His life will be remembered. So, this will be a celebration of his life.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J. E. Keever Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 21, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Ennis. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Pallbearers will include: Florencio Gomez, Freddie Gomez, Billy Dlabaj, Patrick MacAllister, Rene Sanchez, Eric Gomez, Rodney Mungia, Diego Gomez, Jordan Sanchez, Anthony Narvaiv, Marcus Sanchez and Stephen Bernal.
