Sherry Lynn Haskovec, 70, of Ennis, TX ran into the arms of her Savior on Friday, July 24, 2026. She was born in Dallas on February 17, 1956 and raised by her parents Joseph and Winnie McKee. As a child, she enjoyed spending time with her close friend, Denise Calvert, and worked as a waitress at her Daddy's soda fountain on Irving Blvd.  She graduated from Sunset High School in 1974. In July 1975, she married Richard Louis Hejny, and started their life in Ennis, TX. Together, they welcomed two daughters, Kristen and Kari, who Sherry often described as the greatest blessing and accomplishment of her life.  No matter how old they became, she never stopped reminding them how proud she was to be their mom.

Sherry worked at many places over the years, and everywhere she was employed, people remembered her smile and warm hugs the most.  She was a manager of the Ennis Pizza Hut, assistant manager at Golden Corral, Ennis Business Forms, Walmart, Ennis Regional Medical Center, Ennis ISD, and HEB to name a few.  One of her favorite places of employment was UT Southwestern in the Neurosurgery Clinic, which she retired from after 10 years in August 2022.

Later in life, Sherry was blessed to find love again. On September 19, 2008, she married Edwin Haskovec at Telico Church, beginning a joyful new chapter filled with shared adventures. After retiring, Sherry and Ed spent special time traveling in their RV to the Texas Coast and the Hill Country.  They loved to cruise together to beautiful Caribbean destinations on Carnival and visited Hawaii and Florida making so many friends and memories along the way.

She had a remarkable gift for making life feel like a celebration. To her family, she was the social director, always planning the next gathering, outing, or adventure. She found so much joy in planning parties, bringing people together and making memories.

Whether it was cheering from the stands at her grandchildren's baseball and softball games, taking them to the movies, bowling, shopping, swimming in her pool, or hosting unforgettable sleepovers, she cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. She looked forward to Black Friday shopping with her girls, Thai lunches filled with laughter, and never turned down good Mexican food shared with the people she loved.

She was endlessly generous with her time, her heart, and her compassion, always willing to go above and beyond for someone in need. She had a rare ability to make people feel comfortable and understood, often turning complete strangers into friends within minutes.

Her faith in Jesus was the foundation of her life. Even during her most difficult days, she never stopped pointing others to God's goodness. From a hospital bed in the midst of a medical crisis, she would still smile and say, "God is good all the time." Her unwavering faith, strength, and gratitude became an inspiration to everyone around her.

She was also known for her sense of style and her eye for beauty. Rarely seen without her lipstick, jewelry, perfectly styled hair, and manicured nails, she loved fashion and had an incredible talent for decorating. She poured love into making her home warm, welcoming, and beautiful.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph McKee and Winnie Hodnett and her former husband and the father of her daughters, Richard Hejny. She is survived by her husband, Edwin Lee Haskovec, two daughters, Kristen and Kari and son-in-laws, Brian and Peter; as well as three stepdaughters Jordan, Danielle and Rachel and stepson, Joshua.

Sherry was lovingly known as "Nana" to 13 grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Luke, Grace, Graham and Lexi; Jenna and Brady, Kasen, Georgia, Edie and Jaymes; Maggie, Faylynn and Evan.

Though her family will miss her deeply, they find comfort in knowing she is now healed and in the presence of the Savior she loved so dearly.  Her life was a beautiful reminder that the greatest legacy that we can leave is to love God whole heartedly and love others well.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10 a.m. in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis. Pallbearers will be Justin Wilson, Brandon Harris, Matt Dixon, Brian Beckham, Peter Cummings, Luke Beckham and Graham Cummings (honorary). Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
