I n Loving Memory of Terry Lynn Schiffner
May 30, 1955 – March 13, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Terry Schiffner, age 69, of Ennis, TX, who unexpectedly left us on March 13, 2025. Terry was born May 30, 1955, in Fort Morgan, CO, to Thaine and Marilyn Sussex. The family relocated to Bellevue, CO shortly thereafter. In 1975, she moved to Western Kansas.  Throughout the years she lived in Dodge City, Pretty Prairie, Inman, Great Bend, Johnson, and then finally made Garden City her home in 1989.

On May 4, 1982, Terry married Doug Schiffner, with whom she shared her life until his passing in 2005.

Terry was an avid horse lover and rode her horses daily, only deterred by the most extreme weather. On the weekends she was a competitive barrel racer, competing in rodeos for years before transitioning to weekend SBRA jackpots.  Terry was the IFCA Champion barrel racer in 2001.

In 1993, Terry began working for Animal Health International (formerly Lextron Inc.) as a retail sales representative and receptionist. She was promoted to operations manager in 2011 and was responsible for inventory and facility management for locations across Kansas and Colorado.  Terry retired in 2016 and moved to Ennis, TX to be closer to her son Justin and his family. She transitioned from her operations manager role to becoming a full-time grandmother, or "Gaga" as her grandchildren lovingly called her. She switched from barrel racing to trail and obstacle course riding and added goats and chickens to her animal collection.  She had many dogs through the years, and loved each of them deeply.  The only thing she loved more than spending time with her animals was spending time with her family.  She spent every day of her retirement surrounded by her animals and her family, and doing what she loved most.

Terry is survived by her children, Shawn & Minh Schiffner of Schaumburg, IL, John & Kaycie Bogner of Dodge City, KS, and Justin & Amber Schiffner of Ennis, TX; her seven grandchildren, Morgan & Madison Schiffner,  Allysa, Bladen & Hudsyn Bogner, and Peyton & Kelton Schiffner; her siblings, John Sussex of Fort Collins and Deryn Ahasic of Aspen, CO. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, whose lives were enriched by her love, guidance, and presence.

In lieu of flowers , the family kindly requests donations be made to the Garrett Area Rural Volunteer Fire Department in Terry's name.  During recent storms on March 8th our station and equipment sustained significant damage.  Donations can be mailed directly to PO BOX 142 Ennis, TX 75120, or sent via Venmo to the Fire department's accountant at @aplusbkkptax

A celebration of Terry's life will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, 4 p.m. at The Telico Gin. Immediately following the celebration, family and friends are invited to share dinner, memories, and laughter.  Tears will be accepted in limited quantities, just as Terry would have requested.  A service in Kansas will be planned for a later date.
