Virginia Faye Nunn, lovingly known as Mom, Memaw, and Nana, 87, of Ennis, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026.
She was born on April 30, 1938, to Zola Gladys and Henry Bishop Smith. She grew up in the Waxahachie area alongside her brothers Johnny, Herman, David, and Kenneth and attended Forreston High School, where she graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1957. That same year, she married the love of her life, Donald "Buck" Nunn. Together, they built a beautiful life and countless cherished memories in Ennis, Texas. They were blessed with one daughter, Rhonda Nunn, whom they loved dearly. Virginia and Buck were rarely far from a spirited game of dominoes, though Buck might argue about who won most often. We find comfort in knowing he was there to greet her in heaven, dominoes in hand, ready for a rematch.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Rhonda, and her fiancé, Carlos; her grandchildren, Jessica and her husband Tim, Jaresa and her fiancé Brandon, and Jon and his wife Maranda; her great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Nykolas, Lilly, Yazmin, Robert Lee, Bella, Elizabeth, Tristan, Emberlynn, Everlynn, Brystol, Harley, and Mikalah; and her great-great-granddaughter, Haley. As well as countless other family and friends.
Virginia had a deep love for the outdoors. Her family often teased her for preferring to be outside rather than in, but she had such a gift that it seemed anything she touched would bloom. She also cherished her time at The Golden Circle in Ennis, where she found fellowship, friendship, endless laughter, and a great game of Bingo among those she fondly called her "second family."
A woman of unwavering faith, Virginia read her Bible daily and loved her Lord with all her heart. Her life was full, her heart even fuller, and her laughter unforgettable. She will be dearly missed, and forever loved. There is great comfort in imagining her now at peace, with a cup of coffee in one hand and the Good Book in the other, catching up with her beloved Don, her granddaughter Jalea, her parents, and her brothers Johnny, Herman, and David. And if heaven has a porch, you can be sure it's already spotless.
Services for Virginia will be held at Refiner's Fire Church in Ennis, Texas, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
