William "Bill" F. Woody, 81, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022, in Waxahachie, Texas.

Bill was born June 17, 1940, in Atlanta, Georgia, to E. B. and Paula (Godfrey) Woody.  He grew up in Ennis, Texas, and graduated from Ennis High School in 1959.  On February 21, 1969, he married Rita Cuevas and they made their home and raised their children in Ennis.  After the death of Rita, Bill married Emma Deane Youngblood Skroh on November 27, 2011, and they continued living in Ennis.  Bill served his country proudly in the United States Army Reserve.

Bill was a dedicated servant of the community as he served twenty-seven years with the Dallas Fire Department retiring as an Engineer, twelve years as an Ellis County Constable and sixteen years as Ellis County Justice of the Peace. Bill was a member of the Bardwell and Ennis Masonic Lodges, Professional Rodeo and Cowboy Association (PRCA), American Legion and the Ennis Chamber of Commerce.  Bill's greatest joy was his family and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending Rodeos with them and others.

Bill is survived by his wife, Emma Deane Woody; sons: Kitt Woody and wife, Martha and Mark Woody and wife, Suzanne "Bob"; daughter, Nancy Watson and husband, Kris; step sons: Joe Skroh, David Skroh and Kelli and Bryan Skroh; step daughter, Lisa Matthews and husband, Arthur: five grandchildren: ten step grandchildren: three great-grandchildren: ten step great-grandchildren; brother, James Woody; sisters: Peggy Henley and Sally Schwartz along with a multitude of fellow firefighters, officers of the law extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rita Woody, brother, Paul Woody and step grandson Taylor.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 11 a.m. in the K.J.T Hall of Ennis.  Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
