William Daniel "Dan" Jansen, of Ennis, Texas, passed away at his home on June 17, 2026.

Dan was born on November 21, 1951, and spent his childhood in Dallas. In middle school, he moved to Bristol and attended school in Ennis until his senior year. Although he graduated from Kimball High School in Dallas, he always considered Ennis home.

As the son of a general contractor, Dan developed an early appreciation for construction and building. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1975 and went on to a successful career in architecture, spending more than four decades with HKS in Dallas.

Dan was an avid road cyclist, a devoted University of Texas Longhorn football fan, and a lifelong Methodist. He sang in church choirs for many years, including at First Methodist Church in Ennis and Highland Park United Methodist Church. His faith remained a steady presence throughout his life.

Dan never met a stranger, and he always had a story to tell. He was hardworking, funny, charismatic, competitive, and deeply passionate about the things that mattered to him. Whatever he was doing, Dan was all in. He lived with intensity, high standards, and a determination to keep moving forward. He moved fast, thought big, and pursued the things he loved with remarkable focus and conviction, always on his own terms.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Emerson Jansen and Effie Engelking Jansen, and his sister, Janet Helen Jansen.

He is survived by his daughters, Heather Jansen Boyd and Holly Jansen; his son-in-law, Joshua Boyd; his former wife, Susan Pierce Jansen; his niece, Jennifer Foreman; his nephew, Jeffrey Foreman; his half-brother, Bill Gammage; his nephew, Stone Gammage; and many friends and extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at First Methodist Church, 300 N. Sherman Street, Ennis, Texas.

A visitation and luncheon will follow the service.
