William Dudley (Bill) Yates, passed away 22 September 2020 in Austin, Texas following a brief illness. Teri was honored to spend that last day with him giving him hugs and love.

Bill was born on January 27, 1928 in Mesquite, Texas to parents Robert Kimbrough Yates & Winnie (McGee) Yates.

On September 28 1951 he married Louise Brazier. Bill and Kenneth Brazier (a brother of Louise) were in the Army at the same time and were good friends, that's how Bill and Louise met. When they met it became a forever partnership, that lasted until she passed away in 2011.

They had their one and only Daughter Teri Elaine (Yates) Hudson.

He is preceded in death by his wife Louise, his parents, sister Irene and brother Robert .

Bill served in Korea and was awarded 5 Bronze Stars, and never mentioned this until asked one day,what these stars were for.

His reply was, "I was in just a few battles". Bill was a quiet, soft spoken person, who seldom met anyone who did not become a friend.

He leaves behind 2 sisters Dorothy & Louise, sister in laws Susie & Martha & brother in law Glenn and his daughter Teri. He was PaPaw to grandson's Nicholos & Michael and his wife Laura. He had 3 Great Grand Children Emma Rea, Caitlin and Jesse whom he adored. Also many Nieces and nephews.

Bill was a very hard worker often working nights and 3rd shifts to provide for his family. He Retired as a custodian at DeSoto Elementary where he was loved by all the students and Teachers. They celebrated his retirement with a "Mr Bill" day.!

After retirement he missed working and went back to work part time for several years!

Bill will be missed by all who knew him.

Graveside Services will be at Bristol Cemetery Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
