William Gregory "Greg" Armstrong

Leading a life as full as the golf courses he graced, Greg Armstrong, of Waxahachie, Texas, completed his final round in this world on February 16, 2024, at the age of 58. Born in Houston, Texas, on October 28, 1965, he was a man who always aimed for the green in life's vast fairway.

Greg's career was much like a well-played game of golf—steady, focused, and with the occasional hole-in-one. For 17 years, his perseverance navigated the bunkers of Reliable Life Insurance and Capitol County Mutual, wearing many hats as a successful Agent, Assistant Manager, and Claims Adjustor. He then took a swing as an Agriculture Appraiser at the Ellis County Appraisal District for 12 years, where he was known to appraise with both precision and charm.

When not in the office, Greg could be found casting lines at Armstrong's Pecan Creek, in the great outdoors hunting and fishing, or cheering on his daughters from the sidelines of their sports.  After his retirement, he loved tooling around the neighborhood in his Rover, practicing his golf cart etiquette, spending time with his family and most recently, puttering around in Anthony's shop. His passion for his family and friends was par for the course and with every drive, he aimed to support and uplift everyone.

Just like the silence over the crowd on an under par hole, and much like his dad, Greg was led by a quiet faith that provided his family with the strength to get through any difficult or challenging moment. His ever present love for his family and friends, just like the game, was apparent every day. He earned a Masters Champion rank as the most loving dad, husband, uncle, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend to all.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with his wife of nearly 32 years, Viana Armstrong, his precious daughters, Cristian Armstrong-Pool and her husband, Reed Pool, and Aryn Kendyll Olague and her husband Gerardo 'Junior' Olague, and a gallery of family and friends. Preceding him in the leaderboard of life were his parents, Jack and Jeanne Armstrong, and his brother, Jeffrey Glen Armstrong.

A celebration of Greg's life, which promises to be as moving as a well-played putt, will be held at J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 10 a.m. in Ennis, Texas. Driving Greg to the 18th hole are pallbearers: Gilbert Zamora, Reed Pool, Junior Olague, Anthony Maples, Tony Stevens, Robert Garcia, and Brian Roland as an honorary pallbearer, under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

Bobby Jones once said, "Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots, but you have to play the ball where it lies." Greg's departure reminds us that life, much like golf, is a game of inches and moments. Here's to a man who always knew the importance of playing through fairways and greens. Greg, you are loved and will be missed by all who knew you.
