Winford H. "Dub" Baker Jr. of San Antonio passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021 at the age of 92 years old.  Dub was born February 13, 1928 in Denton, Texas to Winford and Henrietta Baker.  He was raised in Ellis County and graduated from Bardwell High School in 1946.  After high school, he moved to Dallas and began working for National Casket Company.  Dub was a proud veteran who served honorably in the United States Marine Corps and was the sole Texan on the Marine Corps basketball team.  After returning from the service, he married the love of his life, Gwen in 1950. Dub was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gwen; two brothers and a brother-in-law.  He is survived by two sons Mike (Cindy) Baker, Steve (Stacy) Baker, and four grandchildren Brian Baker, Breanne Baker, Molly (Aaron) Asvestas, all of San Antonio, and Morgan Baker of Palm Beach, FL, his sister Lavada Mitchell of Garland, TX, and sister-in-law Nancy (Chuck) McCormack of Waxahachie, TX, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.   Visitation will be from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2021 at Porter Loring North with a 4:00 p.m. Service. Interment will take place in Myrtle Cemetery, Ennis, TX at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 23, 2021.  You are invited to sign the Guestbook and view livestreaming at www.porterloring.com.
